A career in AI? Starting up? Need funding? UnternehmerTUM has all the answers
Yesterday I had the chance to meet Andreas Liebl, partner at UnternehmerTUM, who launched a programme Applied.AI, wherein people from across the world are invited to apply.
If you are an engineer, or a professional, and wish to launch an application or gain expertise in the field of AI, this is the programme for you. The institute was founded by entrepreneur Susanne Klatten in 2002 and is supported by several corporations such as Nvidia, Mercedes Benz and SAP, to name a few.
What I found interesting about the institute is that not only do they train you, but can also support you, should you wish to start up. The institute has a venture capital arm that can facilitate investments towards startups with promising ideas. This way their training programme has got you covered end-to-end. What is also interesting is that it is a private, not-for-profit institute based in Munich, with global partnerships extending to Europe, China and also the US with Stanford and UC Berkeley.
UnternehmerTUM will also have training, online courses and meet-ups on AI as part of the initiative, and some of these will be public, and free of charge.
Applied.AI will create a platform that will allow companies, scientists, public institutions and of course young people to learn, share best practices, and implement latest technologies.
The Applied.AI programme’s agenda is to train 3,000 people on the subject. These training will be imparted not only by experts in AI but also industry experts.
I truly think we need programmes like these in India, and also foresee a need to collaborate with this institute. That is because ‘The Tomorrow’ tomorrow will rely extensively on skills in these areas. Considering the pace at which the world is advancing, this will be an important sought-after skill when it comes to qualifying for job opportunities in the future.
Among the many estimates, one is that by 2030, about 10-15 percent of the cars sold will be self-driven. In every walk of life, be it Business Intelligence, Supply Chain Management, Enterprise planning or even Internal communications, AI may not only be important but also a requisite. It may thus be vital to have such institutes in India that professionals could leverage upon, and gain expertise in the new nuanced, AI technology.
Overall, it was an interesting launch, and meeting Andreas was wonderful.
